Brig. Gen. Matthew M. Bacon

Brigadier General Bacon received his commission as an Engineer Officer through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1996. He is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms Services and Staff School, the Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College.

He is currently assigned as the Assistant Adjutant General, Joint Forces Headquarters, Missouri National Guard. He was previously assigned as the Chief of Staff to Joint Forces Headquarters, Missouri National Guard, Commander of the 635th Forward Engineer Support Team-Main, Brigade Design Engineer to the 35th Engineer Brigade, Commander to the 235th Engineer Construction Management Team, Division Engineer to the 35th Infantry Division, Engineer to the Joint Forces Headquarters Facilities section and Operations Officer to the 35th Engineer Brigade and the 35th Infantry Division.

His deployments include 2003-2004 to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2008-2009 to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and 2017-2018 to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Brigadier General Bacon holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, a Master of Business Administration from Washington University-St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal along with various campaign, unit, and service awards.

Brigadier General Bacon is a member of the Missouri National Guard Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officers Association of America.
